The 46th ranked player in the country in the Class of 2025 McKenzie Mathurin was in town for the Lady Raiders the past weekend and we checked in with her directly to find out how her visit went. Spoiler alert: it went well.
"The experience was everything I’d imagined and more. From the coaching staff to hanging with the players to the facilities tour," Mathurin told Seeing Scarlet when asked about her visit. "Texas Tech has been a school on my radar for a while, as far back as attending camp as an 8th grader when I first met Coach Gerlich. The biggest thing that impressed me was the support from the community. Everyone has been so nice from the waiters to all the online supporters. A real Texas welcome."

She even had time to catch up with an old friend, also known as local Lubbock superstar and Texas Tech target No. 1 Player in the country Aaliyah Chavez. 😈
And of course, taking some FIRE pictures in what we can all hope, wish and dream will be her future college uniform. That crown looks real natural we are just saying, let's build a kingdom McKenzie?! Go show her the Red Raider love Texas Tech fans.
