The Texas Tech Lady Raiders are set to host the 46th ranked player in the Class of 2025 McKenzie Mathurin on an official visit this weekend. Mathurin is a 5-10 guard from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and holds offers from teams across the country including Oregon, NC State, Ole Miss, Baylor and many more.
Mathurin was previously committed to Nebraska but reopened her recruitment in late May, and the offers flooded in thereafter. As a junior this past season she averaged 21.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.3 assists per game on her way to District MVP honors for 6A Broken Arrow High School in Oklahoma.
She is regarded as one of the nation's premier shooting guards, who has shown the ability to hit from outside consistently while also having the strength and will to finish tough buckets on the inside. Her toughness is a consistent mark from talent evaluators as well as her IQ and work ethic, which is why it surprises no one that she has shot up the rankings in the past 12 months to land in the top 50. All of which points to a player who's ceiling isn't just realistically reachable....it's one that has yet to be fully defined. 📈
Her final summer circuit has been off to a HOT start too, after Mathurin recently earned MVP honors of the adidas 3SSB Session II. She helped Team Trae Young to a 4-0 record off 22.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game. Mathurin will also be taking part in the inaugural Overtime Select League that tips off this summer in Atlanta, featuring fellow top prospects such as Aaliyah Chavez, Jazzy Davidson and Mia & Mya Pauldo.
