Texas Tech Soccer vs TCU Recap - Dominant Defense Grabs Road Point

I have such a deep respect for the game of soccer. It's a test of your mental game as much as it is for your physical presence on the pitch. I love the games that look neutral on paper and we could talk about this game for hours about its intensity and resilience. Instant classic defensively! This team came into this match with a determined energy that could be felt through the TV. I had serious FOMO because you know we would be acting a FOOL at that game. The hype was so real!

This was a BRAWL. The rivalry that has evolved between these two programs gave me goosebumps right at game time and this was Texas Tech's Big 12 opener!!!!!!????

Say. Less.

Texas Tech drew with TCU 0-0 in their match on Thursday in Fort Worth.

The DEFENSE. This game tested our defensive guardians and they showed out. To be a brick wall against a hella talented TCU team is a spectacular athletic feat. Faith Nguyen is out there going ham at any attempt coming her way. Peyton Annen and Cassie Taylor held composure that halted dangerous attempts. Every player on our roster at some point won a contest on the ball in this match.

editor's note: ***warning this tackle from Peyton Annen may leave you too stunned to speak**

editor's note: im sorry not one but TWO headers in the box to clear a free kick? CHILL*

"The key for this for us was that we rode our defense to the draw. They were unbelievable on the tackle, tremendous in the air. Blocking shots, blocking crosses. Putting them [TCU] out of the danger zone." Tom Stone, Head Coach

While TCU held possession more than we would like, it still seemed like Texas Tech was the team that ultimately ended up with the most dangerous looks offensively forcing a couple of impressive saves from TCU. Peyton Parsons, Ashleigh Williams, Kaitlyn Giametta and Taylor Zdrojewski all recorded shots in the attack.

To know what this team has already faced this season with injuries to pre-season All-Big 12 players Sam Courtwright and Kylie Bahr, this feels like a win in various categories towards the identity of this team as they continue to grow into their potential. TCU held possession 60% of the time and the Red Raiders gritted it out to leave them scoreless to head home with a point but also keeping TCU from getting three on their home field is huge.

Hats off to quite the start to the Big 12 season. Let's wreck em' on September 19th, IN LUBBOCK, against Utah! Be there, BE LOUD Lubbock!

P.S. Shout out to the Red Raiders in DFW that definitely showed up and were loud. The Raider Powers were insane as always. Looked like a dang home game when they panned into the crowd. Red Raider nation always wins.
