Texas Tech Soccer - 2024 Season Schedule Preview!

The 2023 Texas Tech Red Raiders - Big 12 Champions

The FULL schedule is set for the defending Big-12 regular season champions. The Texas Tech Red Raiders finished with a 16-2-5 overall record and went 8-0-2 in conference play that resulted in tons of records broken, and forever memories. <3

Let's get into the magic of the 2024 season.

Non-conference matches

This non-con is out here serving.

We have our classic match against Denver on August 8th. We love this game because we have a strong group of players from Colorado, what a cute homecoming to start off the season! Then we head to University, Park, PA to battle the Nittany Lions of Penn State AT Penn State August 15th. This is an early test for the Red Raiders. Penn State is a historically epic program. 6-1-3 in conference last year in the Big10 and has produced players who are consistently rostered on Olympic and World Cup teams. For the second match of the season, the gals gonna come in hot.

Texas Tech will then return to home matches against California State University - Northridge, and St. Bonaventure on August 18th and August 22nd.

Then we take business to Utah State in Logan, UT. The gals really seemed to love the scenery in Utah, so let's make it prettier by putting together a W.

The Red Raiders will have three matches at home before we start conference play. That starts with Weber State on August 29th, Oral Roberts on September 1st, and Oregon on September 5th. Oregon has struggled the past few seasons with competition but many teams will be hungry to defeat the Red Raiders at home. Oregon is the last game of the non-conference schedule.

Conference matches

TCU (Away) - September 12th - TCU has been steady competition for the Red Raiders year after year. Texas Tech beat TCU 1-0 last year and part credit of that shutout goes to Madison White, who earned 5 saves in the match, and captain, Hannah Anderson, being an absolute WALL on the defense. White (GK) and Anderson (CB) were a defensive powerhouse for this squad and we are likely going to see some big boots to fill replacing the duo, but with a talented and experienced of returning defenders.

Utah (Home) - September 19th - A newer team for Texas Tech, the University of Utah from Salt Lake City will be blowing through the 806 for only their second time in program history. Back in 2016, Utah got the W against the Red Raiders in Salt Lake City in a late game in November. Even though we lost and this match was almost a decade ago, can we take a moment and appreciate how the gals were PLAYIN' even back in the day?! There were two red cards so, yeah, we were tusslin'. 😂😂 Let's run it back 2024!

Oklahoma State (Away) - September 22nd - Last season, the Red Raiders were victorious over OSU that closed their home record without a loss. Ain't that the nicest thing? In our 1-0 victory last year, Elise Anderson served a perfect pass to the awaiting Ashleigh Williams who LASERS it into the net. Highlights from the match are here!

Kansas State (Away) - September 26th - We did not meet the Wildcats last season, but in 2022, Elise Anderson and Ashleigh Williams linked up for the game-winner in the 77th minute. This duo returning to the pitch for the 2024 season as seniors is shaping up to be really fun to think about.

Houston (Away) - September 29th - Our third-away game in a row, the Red Raiders will take on the Houston Cougars. Last season, we took care of business with a 3-0 victory over Houston. A brace (scored two goals) for Alex Kerr (duh lol), clean sheet from Madison White (double duh), and a crowd that was so damn rowdy, even head coach Tom Stone was impressed! This was the match before UT, so looking back on the intensity and dominance of that performance only makes it more hype.

Baylor (Home) - October 4th - Ashleigh Williams scored a brace with a goal in each half to shut out the Baylor Bears last season. Macy Blackburn was credited with the assist along with Gisselle Kozarski. Blackburn is a missed force on the pitch and her return from injury has been long awaited!

Colorado (Home) - October 10th - Another new-ish foe for Texas Tech Soccer, there's not much history between these two programs. A home game to show the Buffaloes what's up in the middle of the season could serve as another way to the Red Raiders to stay ready. This Colorado program has shown they can compete in the big moments. Colorado went 5-3-3 last year in the Pac 12 with some notable wins over Michigan State and Arizona State.

Iowa State (Home) - October 13th - This match against the Cyclones last year was symbolic for our program. This match secured our first Big-12 Regular Season title in program history. A strike from Ashleigh Williams in the 40th minute was the only goal-scoring moment in the match. I loved what Tom Stone said about this match in his press conference "...we never set a specific goal of winning this championship. From the beginning, we told this team 'I want you to stop obsessing over winning the Big-12 and focus on bigger things."

Well, they sure did focus on bigger things last season, huh?

West Virginia (Away) - October 17th - West Virginia finished 5th in the Big-12 last year with a 5-3-2 conference record. The last time these teams matched up was the 2022 season where we tied 1-1. Getting points is sometimes the goal and the Red Raiders will have a chance to take full points this year.

Cincinnati (Away) - October 20th - Playing and defeating Cincinnati twice in the 2023 season (3-0, 2-1 respectively), the Red Raiders will aim to be a continuous nightmare for the Bearcats as we travel to their house this season.

BYU (Home) - October 25th - A blockbuster ending for this Big-12 season comes with the BYU Cougars. Finishing 2nd in the Big-12 last year, BYU finished 7-0-3, with one of those draws being with the Red Raiders. In one of the most hype games of the season last year, this endcap with a powerful program is going to be a movie.

For the first time in program history, the Red Raiders Soccer program is selling SEASON tickets! Not only does this make the ticketing process so much faster (more time for tailgates now!!! yay!!!), but also highlights the progress this team has made. You can purchase your tickets for $83 on Texas Tech events website.
