Texas Tech is hosting the top player in the Class of 2025, and Lubbock native, Aaliyah Chavez on an official visit. The Lady Raiders were her first official offer and were named to her Top 10 last fall, she has recently taken official visits with UCLA, Oklahoma and Texas.
Chavez is a FIERCE competitor with endless range from deep, paired with handles to get to the bucket at will and elite vision as a passer that has led to a lengthy list of accolades and awards won over the years. Most recently she was named the 2023-2024 Texas Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year after a junior season at Monterey where she broke the school's record for points in a season, points in a career, most three-pointers in a game and had a school record 57 points in a single game as well. She averaged a ridiculous 37.8 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 3.5 steals per game.
Now in her senior season, she has amassed over 3,000 career points and her career averages sit at 31.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game. The numbers and eye test both support the notion that Chavez is a true generational talent and if for some reason you haven't made it out from under that rock to see her play check out some of her highlights below.
Chavez played the summer circuits with Cy Fair in the Nike EYBL where she has won two National Championships, including in 2022 alongside current Lady Raider Loghan Johnson. The most recent one came this past summer when she dropped 30 points in the championship game.
The 806 is already home Aaliyah and we are so proud to call you one of our own. Let's Wreck 'Em in the Scarlet and Black too though?🧘♀️
