Gerry Glasco Accepts Offer To Become Texas Tech Softball Head Coach

Texas Tech officials have confirmed to us that Gerry Glasco has accepted an offer to become the next head coach of Texas Tech Softball. Glasco has spent the last seven seasons as the head coach at Louisiana Lafayette where he amassed a 300-84 (.781) record and reached the postseason every season.

Glasco has a lengthy coaching resume dating back 16 seasons as both a head and assistant coach in which he has been a part of three Women's College World Series teams (2009, 2010, 2017), seven Super Regionals (2009-12, 2014, 2017, 2023) and 15 total NCAA tournament berths, the only year of his career he missed was 2020 when the tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He has never had a losing season in 16 years as a college coach and won less than 40 games only once in 2016 when he won 39 as assistant with Texas A&M. As a head coach he won at least 41 games every season with Louisiana, winning as many as 52 in 2019 and 50 once more in 2023 when he led the Ragin' Cajuns to a Super Regional.

Prior to becoming a head coach, Glasco helped Georgia set 20 plus offensive records and Texas A&M eight during his time there as an assistant coach. His offenses led the SEC in Home Runs with Georgia in 2013-14 and with Texas A&M 2016-17. At Louisiana he set the school record for team batting average at .351 in 2022, but not to be outdone in the circle, the same year his team was also Top 25 in the nation in Team ERA, strikeouts-to-walk ratio and shutouts. The list goes on and on.

This past season, Glasco helped Louisiana to a 45-19 record (22-2 in conference) good enough to earn a national No. 13 seed. The team also beat the eventual four-peat National Champion Oklahoma earlier in the season to snap their historic 71-game win streak.

Stay tuned to Texas Tech athletics pages for more information on a likely press conference to be held on Friday June 21.
