A Thank You Letter to the Texas Tech Softball Seniors.

You stayed, you played, you slayed.

You had good days, bad days, injuries, surgeries, three different coaching staffs for some....and countless other battles you probably (no, definitely) didn't deserve to fight.

You shrugged off the tough ones and have given us endless celebrations, web gems, career milestones and most of all vibes on vibes on vibes.

And while you AIN'T DONE YET! Know when the time comes, you are leaving this program better than it would have been had you chosen to leave, or not come at all. That's Red Raider Hall of Fame badassery if we do say so ourself. You've helped get Texas Tech softball back on track and ready to shoot off in the years to come. That's y'all, bookmark it. Don't you dare forget it, we won't. True Red Raider legends for life.

# 00 Arriana "Pecan" Villa, OF

Pecan. Clutch. Gamer. The slickest glove in the game (no really see picture above, it's CLEAN.) What else do we need to say really. A true signature stance in the box with a lefty swing so smooth you could use it to prep your morning toast. Don't be surprised if you see her on the international stage post Red Raider career either fans.

# 5 Riley Love, 3B

Started off her career as an All-Big 12 Freshmen team member because of her defense and now is finishing her senior year on the way to All-Big 12 honors with a breakout season at the plate. Oh and don't worry....the web gems never stopped either helping her onto Softball America's Top 10 list for the best third basemen in the country. Put a picture of Love up in the weight room, what more do you need to show a young player about what hard work can do for you than her career.

# 6 Chassety Raines, OF

Raines joined Texas Tech after dominating with DIII Texas Lutheran as both a hitter and pitcher. She did the damn thing and wasn't afraid to test her mettle jumping up to the DI level with Texas Tech to finish off her college career. We respect the heck out of that all-day, every day.

# 8 Kennedy Crites, C

THE LASER. That arm y'all. She led the Big 12 in runners thrown out as a catcher last season and has always been well respected for her defense behind the plate during her time in college. But the senior said "lemme add a little something else to my bag" this final year as she broke out with career numbers at the plate in 2024. Won't find anyone tougher than Kennedy on this team either....like most catchers she has taken the punishment and kept on trucking every time.

# 11 Abbie Orrick, SS

Small town legend, turned DI starting shortstop and Red Raider infield maestro - Abbie Orrick IS WEST TEXAS TOUGH. Yet another senior having a career season this year, Orrick is one of those players you could have a solo camera keyed on and be entertained all game if you love the small things in softball. Possibly the hypest celebrations on the team, always talking, always locked in between every pitch out at short, a true leader that will be missed both on and off the field.

# 12 Maddy Wright, RHP/UTL

Maddy joined this team before the start of the 2024 season as a 5th-year senior transfer from Charlotte, but it feels like she has been a Red Raider for her entire career. This season would be much much different had she not decided to take a trip on over to Lubbock and boy are we ever thankful this DAWG did. Hasn't backed down once, even when asked to do more than she probably should be asked to out of necessity, she always wants the ball. Every single game both in the circle and at the plate. Let us say it again: Maddy Wright is a daWg.

# 22 Jacee Hamlin, OF

The speedster Hamlin has stayed ready for whatever role she has been asked to play when called upon over her four seasons. Stealing bases, diving catches and best believe we won't forget that YAAAAABOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM earlier this season. 🗣️WEIGHT ROOM!

# 25 Olivia Rains, RHP

Liv is here for all the smoke. Ten-toes, every day, anywhere, and we will go to war for her with anyone because of it. Had plenty of in-the-circle moments to be proud of over the years, know that, but we personally appreciate her the most for this epic bullpen moment earlier this season. She's a woman of the people. Legend.

# 56 Alana Barraza, 2B

Barraza had a breakout season in 2023 hitting .293 with 8 double and 9 home runs as a junior and has taken a leadership role this season as a senior (but y'all saw she still got that pop on Sunday versus Texas.) Oh and how could we not add she is the keeper of Dwayne the Rock, which should cement her into legend status as it is tbh, I mean it's Dwayne the Rock.

# 78 Carson Armijo, OF

First off, the number choice off the top has always made Carson a dawg but you have to appreciate a player that keeps working until her time is called. She's had numerous clutch moments over her time at Texas Tech after transferring in from UCLA 3 years ago, including a big RBI in the team's near comeback versus No. 6 OSU in April.

Thanks for the memories y'all, let's make some more before you go though? Give 'em hell in Oklahoma City. 🧘‍♀️

Texas Tech softball will begin postseason play at the Big 12 Tournament in Oklahoma City on Wednesday at 7:30 PM CT versus Iowa State. Game available on ESPN+.
