No. 25 Texas Tech Soccer Keeps Growing In 2-1 Road Win Over Kansas State

Texas Tech came out with a RELENTLESS attack to take an early 1-0 lead, then proved they could bounce back quick from a mistake and held it down to finish off a 2-1 road win to move to 3-0-1 in Big 12 play and 8-2-1 overall.

It wasn't the prettiest of games by Texas Tech standards but it also at the same time was one of the team's more dominant first 20 minutes this season in terms of attack. They had 4 corners in the first 4 minutes of the game alone and the Wildcats were likely feeling more than lucky that a goal in the 21st minute only put them down 1-0. But what a goal it was as Peyton Annen got her first as a Red Raider nearly scorching the back of the net with a sure footed rebound off a MINT Macy to Z header corner deflection landed at her feet.

Unfortunately Texas Tech fumbled a ball in their own box towards the end of the first half and a pressing Kansas State attack didn't look a gift horse in the mouth to finish it and tie it up at 1-1. 🫨 Oh no. EVERYONE FREAK OUT. SPILL SOME MILK. LIGHT THE ROOM ON FI....wait never mind this is Texas Tech Soccer and these pesky little Red Raiders retook the lead a mere 57 seconds later. Check off another box from the growing up list!

Game Vibes:

👆🏻 The game started with technical difficulties on the broadcast side and we all got to watch an exclusively soccer sounds of the game first 5+ minutes with no announcers. Don't worry Connor, WE WERE READY IF NEEDED. We absolutely would have been biased to the max tho. Wreck 'em for life.

🐶 About 15 minutes into the first half, Chloe Soto had one of the more impressive sequences of the year that may have had me rebuilding a wall in my house had it ended in a goal. Even so, a STRONG, FEARLESS tackle right outside the box to thwart a dangerous Kansas State attack......followed quickly by her feeding a perfect ball through the Wildcats backline on the other end for a near goal from Ashleigh Williams was a flash of brilliance by the sophomore.

📈 Taylor Zdrojewski was everywhere in this one. In another world where the goal is one inch wider and taller she likely has a brace....and dang near a hat trick as well. But even so her activity and physicality played a heavy hand in both of Texas Tech's goals notching two assists for the redshirt sophomore.

🧐 I need someone to do a behind the scenes day in the life feature on Elise Anderson so we can either 1. learn about what super human workouts and nutrition plan she must follow or 2. learn once and for all she is in fact a cyborg because HOW, HOW does she keep sprinting. All the time, sprinting. We may need to rework the Cheetah nickname on our end because it no longer feels like enough to be fair.

🧘‍♀️ Kansas State had a bounce in their step and played with a lot of belief, especially in that second half, but Texas Tech's backline was up to the task once again to keep the lead and the team as a whole was poised late to close it out.

Up Next:

Texas Tech looks to finish out a tough four out of five away game test to start Big 12 play with their final game in that stretch at Houston on Sunday at 1pm CT. Red Raider fans have taken over Fort Worth, taken over Stillwater and even showed up in Manhattan, Kansas......Houston area Red Raiders? YOU GOT NEXT! Be there, be loud.
